LG will release its OLED DukeBox, set to be displayed at the upcoming CES expo.

The DukeBox is a prototype speaker/display combo that continues LG’s recent trend of delivering consumer AV with an intentional design philosophy, it’s developed by LG Labs (LG’s marketing platform for experimental products) and places old-school vacuum tubes into a modern audio system while covering the whole thing with a transparent OLED display.

Delivering an immersive audio experience that surrounds the user, the speaker/display combines the vintage aesthetic of the vacuum tubes with a more futuristic look.

The DukeBox consists of two front-facing speakers at the bottom of the device and a 360° speaker at the top. The tubes are encased behind a transparent OLED screen with the transparency of the screen adjustable to give viewers a peek at the insides.

Once cranked the opacity allows users to enjoy the ambience of a crackling fireplace or even watch movies.
