K-array expands Kommander amplifiers to be NDI friendly
K-array, distributed by Australis Music Group, has expanded its line of Kommander amplifiers to enable a Network Device Interface (NDI) protocol.
NDI is a low-latency, IP-based protocol that’s capable of transmitting synchronised audio, video and metadata over standard networks.

K-array amplifiers now support native, bidirectional AV-over-IP workflows via their Linux-based Oskar OS. Thousands of Kommander units can become NDI-capable through a free firmware update to ensure future-ready performance and zero added costs for existing users.
“Bringing NDI into our amplifiers, at no cost to the user, demonstrates how our software-defined architecture is ready to embrace every evolution of AV-over-IP,” K-array chief executive Alessandro Tatini says.
“This integration showcases K-array’s ability to generate software value around its core business of amplification and offer our clients a competitive difference.”
From broadcast rooms to e-sports arenas and conference centres, K-array simplified cabling, reduced infrastructure costs and streamlines setup for system integrators.
“We’ve always envisioned NDI as a unified bridge for both video and audio across IP networks,” NDI technical director Roberto Musso says.
“Seeing this vision realised in K-array’s amplifiers, without compromise, without additional hardware, signals the beginning of a smarter, more efficient future for professional AV.”
