“The SB 300 will appeal to home theatre enthusiasts who love big movie sound, but don’t have the space – or desire – for a full 5.1 channel system,” says JBL distributor Convoy International chief executive Geoff Matthews.

“The SB 300 all-inclusive system will impress users with its capabilities, making it simple to create an authentic home cinema experience, with the added flexibility of sleek components that won’t intrude on your living space. It is suitable for use where space is at a premium, in rooms where a second TV is installed, in rental situations, or for those who simply want a less complex, easy to install and operate, high-performance surround sound system. Best of all it delivers the sound quality for which JBL has become renowned for over the last sixty years,” Geoff continued.

While many home theatre installations require five loudspeakers, a subwoofer and metres of speaker wire, the JBL SB 300 offers a simple and streamlined sound solution consisting of only a single amplified soundbar and a wireless powered subwoofer.

The SB 300 soundbar houses dual 51mm (2 inch) midrange transducers and a 25mm (1 inch) dome tweeter for each of the two front channels, powered by 2 x 50W of amplification. Integrating left and right speakers, amplifiers and controls, the super-slim soundbar is styled with the distinctive JBL Weave design to complement the appearance of flat-panel TVs. It may be placed on a tabletop near the TV or wall-mounted with the included brackets.

The 200mm (8-inch), 100W SB 300 powered subwoofer delivers deep, satisfying bass without speaker wires. Unlike conventional, front-firing subwoofers – which interact with nearby walls, causing unwanted reflections that can muddy the sound – the down-firing SB 300 sub interacts principally with your floor, and its enclosure is ported for improved bass output and quality.

The SB 300 is also one of the most user-friendly home theatre speakers systems on the market. Just connect the soundbar via its optical digital or stereo analogue inputs directly to your television, DVD player or game console, and plug the subwoofer into any convenient power outlet. A quick-start setup guide provided in the box takes the guesswork out of the set-up.

A credit-card sized remote controls system power, volume and audio inputs. And with the touch of a button, users can select a traditional stereo playback ideal for music, or 3-D surround processing.

The JBL SB 300 is available now from most Harvey Norman, Domayne, Clive Peeters and Rick Hart stores.
