iPort announces Surface Mount for iPad
iPort has announced an entirely new product: Surface Mount. iPort believes there should be an easy way to place iPad on any wall of your choice, making it always accessible, always charged and always ready for use. But the mounting and charging system should also look amazing and be an aesthetic compliment to its surroundings.
Surface Mount is a system made of a high end, precision-finished aluminum bezel and charging electronics. The system mounts and charges iPad on a wall, works with any wall box in the world, and enables iPad to be affixed onto any surface, anywhere… even glass.
The Surface Mount bezel is offered in 3 finishes: Black, Silver and White. The bezel sports a minimalist aesthetic and occupies a minimal footprint on the wall. But the bezel isn’t just a pretty frame, it is also the mount for the iPad and enables all iPad functions while installed like microphone, speaker, power button. The bezel even has security locks built-in that can be enabled for commercial applications, keeping iPad secure in busy environments.

The Surface Mount electronics system is a game changer. The 2 part electronics system consists of a Splitter and an Injector. The Splitter and receive power from either PoE or 24V DC power sources, making it the most versatile iPad in-wall charger ever conceived. And the Splitter is petite enough to fit into even the smallest single gang wall boxes, worldwide. The Splitter even acts as a cable manager keeping cables neat for easy placement into a wall box. And for scenarios where a PoE or 24V power source are not present, the Injector can be used to provide power from any wall receptacle, worldwide.
“The Surface Mount design was conceived with the installer in mind,” explains Derick Dahl, iPort Product Manager. “We wanted to provide the ultimate solution for integrating an iPad on the wall: from aesthetics to power to ease of installation. We’re thrilled for integrators to get their hands on Surface Mount.”
The Surface Mount system ships October for iPad mini 1 | 2 | 3 models, November for iPad Air 1 | 2 models and December for iPad mini 4 models.
