IntelliVision granted patent for scalable video cloud services
IntelliVision Technologies Corp. has announced it has been granted a patent by the United States Patent and Trademark Office titled System and Method for Scalable Could Services, number US 10,142,381 B2.
The patent was granted for the cloud-based system that allows a video camera to recognise an event, upload the event data from the camera to the cloud server and then allow retrieval of the event data by end user devices such as smart phones, with the ability for on-demand live streaming/viewing and further analytics computation in the cloud.
Nortek Security & Control LLC (NSC) senior vice president of cameras and analytics Vaidhi Nathan says the patent shows that IntelliVision still holds its place as a leader in new technology for large-scale deployments of smart camera video analytics.

“As more and more IoT devices such as video doorbells and security cameras are integrated into the smart home and the enterprise environments, the need to manage millions of these devices becomes more urgent,” he says.
The system usually runs over cloud services such as Amazon EC2, Microsoft Windows Azure or the Google App Engine. End users can easily set up and configure cameras for their monitoring needs and view the camera streams live using their mobile devices. Analytics events are stored and managed in the cloud through these video cloud services.
Vaidhi says that IntelliVision is honoured to receive the patent.
“IntelliVision has been a pioneer in intelligent video and audio analytics technology and associated monitoring systems for over a decade,” he says.
