Dr George Margelis (MBBS M.Optom GCEBus) from the TeleHealth Research & Innovation Laboratory University of Western Sydney is one of this year’s CEDIA’s guest speakers. A medical practitioner by trade, Dr Margelis has been deeply involved in technology over the last 30 years.

His seminar titled, “Business Growth – Future of eHealth” will look at where healthcare technology is today, where it is expected to go, and how it is being integrated into standard consumer technology.

“As new technologies evolve, healthcare delivery is moving from being the domain of medical specialists to something that is tightly integrated with our day-to-day life.

The advent of wearable sensors, smart homes, big data analysis and personal genomics means people can not only live longer, but expect their quality of life to not be diminished by ageing and disease; made possible due to the new developments in AV technology.

“We will look at what the patient of the future will expect from their doctors, their house and their community; and how the mobile phone and other communications tools will enable it,” said Dr Margelis.
