HAI’s Home Theater Extender 2 (HTX2), part number 86A00-2, works with HAI’s Snap-Link Mobile to control AV equipment. The iOS device sends the command to the HTX2, which controls the AV equipment using serial ports, IR ports, and SPDT relays. Over 300,000 IR codes are built-in, and additional codes may be added using the IR Learner.

Interface designs for iOS devices can be customised using HAI’s HTX2 Mobile Designer software. HAI provides generic templates that can be customised for TV’s, Blu-Ray players, AV receivers, satellite/cable boxes, tuners, etc. Advanced users can design their own templates, or purchase templates from HAI or third-parties.

The HAI HTX2 may also be used with OmniTouch 5.7e Touchscreens. Customised AV interfaces for HAI Touchscreens are developed using HAI’s Automation Studio, which is also used to configure the functionality of the HTX2.

HAI anticipates the HTX2 Mobile Designer software to be available during the first quarter of 2012. It will be available via download at no charge for use with the currently available HTX2.

“The ability to provide advanced AV control from our iPhone/iPad app is incredible, especially considering the price will remain the same,” explains HAI president and chief executive Jay McLellan.

“Homeowners will now be able to change the channel on the TV, the temperature of the thermostat, and the security setting all from one hand-held application.”
