Gerard Group lights up oldest part of Palace of Westminster
Pierlite UK won the contract to replace previously installed incandescent bulbs which had a short life and, as a result, required frequent replacement.
Pierlite international sales and marketing manager David Blackley says that although the contract was relatively small, given the location of the chandeliers, it was undoubtedly prestigious. Pierlite UK was able to meet the required contract specifications.
Each new lamp now installed:

• is similar in appearance to the lamps that were replaced
• uses just 7.5W of power compared with 40W for the incandescent lamps
• has a life of 35,000 hours, hugely reducing replacement costs
• is able to be dimmed to 30%
• meets brightness and colour requirements.
“Our products are now lighting up the most historic part of the mother of all Parliaments,” says David.
“Westminster Hall is one of the oldest public buildings in the world, the venue for the trial of Charles 1 and the Coronation Feast of James II. It is also where members of the British Royal family lie in state before burial.
“It is a matter of considerable pride to us that 21st century Pierlite products are now illuminating a building that has borne witness to 900 years of British history.”
