When various hi-def sources are connected to a matrix and the displays are located in different rooms far from the rack or equipment closet, the 4x and the 8x extenders over Cat 6 for HDMI v1.3 offer a plug and play method of extension with pristine results.

Both send multichannel audio including Dolby TrueHD and DTS Master Audio with 1080p full HD video from either four or eight connected sources over Cat 6 cable to the remote displays.

Each remote display uses its own dedicated Cat 6 cable, making these extenders cost-effective and reliable performers. The use of just one Cat 6 cable to carry audio, video and control up to 60m in distance is a new innovation, streamlining cable requirements from the previous two cables that were needed to reach this distance.
