Free or discounted BICSI online courses now available

As of 1 April 2020, the global association supporting the growth of the information and communications community, BICSI, has announced that a range of 25 BICSI CONNECT courses are completely free and some others are available with a 30% discount.

All the courses can be taken online and aim to keep participants up to date with trends in the industry as well as count towards continuing education credits (CECs) for certification renewal.

The courses available include:

  • The Introduction to IoT (30% off)
    As IoT integrates with a large number of technologies, new and old and it can allow the granular control and automation of tasks. This course aims to teach people about the abilities of IoT, what can be possible and some of the software and operating systems available to implement it.
  • Digital Buildings in Hospitality (free)
    This conference presentation featuring a panel of experienced professionals, aims to look at recent digital building installations in a hotel retrofit and what a digital building looks like in the future.
  • Powering Solutions for Passive Optical LAN (free)
    Passive Optical LAN (POL) solutions are gaining traction across a wide range of verticals and there has been huge advancements in both local and remote powering options.
    In this course, Solara Technical president Kevin Fellhoelter provides a vendor-neutral viewpoint of the different powering solutions for POLs including recent innovations, best practices, the most efficient methods and design criteria for creating a network.
  • Remote Access, Virtualisation and Network Services (30% off)
    This far reaching course teaches attendees about cloud services, delivery methods and security considerations, as well as networking services and cabling standards.
    Following this, there’s the chance to explore virtual networking components, network storage types and connection types. Additionally, it will take a look at wide area network (WAN) concepts, including service types, transmission mediums, service characteristics and termination.
    Following on, the course wraps up with monitoring concepts including event logs, alerts, patch management as well as discovering remote access methods, such as VPNs, RDP, SSH, VNC and telnet.
