Extron unveils 5K multi-window processors with annotation support
Extron has released the MGP 641 xi, its 5K multi-window processors for scaling and presenting up to four 5K sources on a single screen.
Including 5K and ultra-wide displays, the processors support video signals up to 5120×2880 with 4:4:4 with colour sampling. The Vector 4K scaling engine make certain downscaled and upscaled content is presented with unequalled image quality.

The processors feature four HDMI inputs that support data rates up to 18Gbps and the HDCP 2.3-compliant processors include an HDMI background input for presenting live, non-scaled content behind source windows at resolutions up to 5K. The MGP 641 xi 5K SDI model supports 12G-SDI sources along with HDMI.
An HDMI output accommodates a local display while the DTP3 output can drive a remote display located up to 100m away with identical content.
Extron chief marketing officer Casey Hall says that its latest device is adhering to the growing demands of customers.
“System designers and integrators asked for a way to support 5K and ultra-wide displays and our newest MGP 641 xi 5K delivers that and more,” he says.
“It easily scales and presents up to four windows of 5K HDMI video on a single display and the LinkLicense upgrade enables annotation over live content, making it one of the best scaling solutions for a diverse array of environments.”
The LinkLicense upgrade allows users to annotate over live content, including free-hand drawing, shapes, lines and pointer arrows, all in selectable colours. The multi-window processors provide customisable window layouts, video and logo keying, window transitions and output rotation.
Two-channel embedded audio can be extracted or passed to the video output, providing enhanced content presentation with on-screen annotation and more.
