Extron has released the XPA U 4004, a four-channel, multi‑zone audio power amplifier that can deliver 400W simultaneously into 8Ω, 4Ω, 70V and 100V loads, independently configurable per channel.

This flexibility allows a single unit to be set up in various configurations to support large systems with multiple speaker types, with each channel of an adjacent pair dynamically drawing power from the pair’s total wattage.

“Designing a high-power amplifier that honours our commitment to efficiency and energy savings is challenging,” Extron chief executive Casey Hall says.

“The availability of ECO Standby with InstaWake+ in the XPA U 4004 FX represents a no-compromise solution for our valued customers who have an immediate requirement for a powerful amplifier that satisfies green initiatives.”

The XPA U 4004 FX features two exclusive technologies that work to provide exceptional energy savings. ECO Standby automatically maximises the time the amplifier operates in its lowest possible power state while the Extron exclusive InstaWake+ technology gives the amplifier the ability to return to full power from standby in under 5ms. InstaWake+ ensures no part of the audio is ever cut off.

The XPA U 4004 FX offers four channels at 400W and up to 800W per channel at half the channel count.
