Extron releases IN1608 xi scaling presentation switcher family
Extron Electronics has announced the introduction of the IN1608 xi, which is the newest addition to the scaling presentation switcher family.
Features include DTP output with HDBaseT compatibility, RS-232 insertion from the Ethernet control ports and OPCP models along with an integrated three-port AV LAN switch. It also includes an HDCP-compliant, multi-format video switcher, an advanced scaling engine, integrated DTP signal extension and an available built-in IPCP Pro control processor for complete AV system control.
The IN1608 xi completely simplifies design and installation and heavily reduces total cost of ownership.

“We gave the IN1608 xi the top three features most requested by customers,” says Extron vice president of worldwide sales and marketing Casey Hall.
“First, all IN1608 xi DTP outputs are configurable for compatibility with HDBaseT-enabled displays. Second, RS-232 insertion from Ethernet provides comprehensive control of remote devices while saving installation time and effort. Finally, IN1608 xi IPCP models with an integrated AV LAN switch enhance security by isolating the control network from outside interference or intrusion.”
It provides the convenience of supporting local and remote displays with two DTP twists pair inputs that are compatible with a vast range of DTP transmitters for extending audio, video and control signals – up to 100m.
The IN1608 xi can also remotely power DTOP transmitters over the same CATx cable, which also streamlines system design and installation. It also features advanced scaling engines that are able to scale HDMI, RGB, component and standard definition video signals to a common high res output. 30-bit colour is also processed to deliver an optimal level of image quality as well as motion-adaptive deinterlacing for input signals up to 1080i.
Finally, it can also serve as a central component for audio systems integration with eight-input audio switching, two mic/line inputs, HDMI audio embedding and de-embedding as well as several audio processing features for mixing, ducking, tone adjustments and more.
