Extron launches DXP 42 HD 8K 4×2 HDMI matrix switcher for high-resolution AV systems
Extron has released the DXP 42 HD 8K, a compact 4×2 HDMI matrix switcher designed for professional AV environments that require high-performance video distribution at ultra-high resolutions.
The switcher supports resolutions up to 8K at 60Hz and ultra-wide 5K formats, with data rates of up to 40.1Gbps, making it suitable for applications such as Microsoft Teams Front Row systems and other advanced collaboration and presentation environments. The DXP 42 HD 8K is HDCP 2.3-compliant and is designed to ensure reliable routing of high-bandwidth HDMI signals to multiple displays.

“This matrix switcher sets a standard for professional AV environments, delivering uncompromising video quality and advanced switching capabilities for applications demanding the highest performance,” Extron chief marketing officer Casey Hall says.
“With support for 8K and technologies like EDID Minder Plus, it ensures reliable distribution in high-end installations.”
The DXP 42 HD 8K incorporates Extron-exclusive technologies, including EDID Minder Plus, which manages advanced display features through enhanced EDID and DisplayID emulation and SpeedSwitch, enabling fast, reliable input switching. EDID Minder Plus provides 512-byte EDID emulation, allowing support for additional memory blocks required for advanced display capabilities and ultra-wide aspect ratios such as 21:9.
Integration-focused features include HDMI audio de-embedding and automatic input cable equalisation, simplifying system design and installation. The switcher also automatically adjusts colour bit depth based on the connected display’s EDID, helping to prevent colour compatibility issues between source devices and displays.
