Energy boost for the Waratahs in 2011
The six-figure deal was signed on 15 February between Schneider Electric Pacific Zone director Lionel Finidori and HSBC Waratahs chief executive officer Jason Allen.
Schneider Electric’s sponsorship of the team entitles the company to corporate signage at Waratahs games, corporate box facilities, Chairman’s Club functions including brand endorsement and player appearances for public relations activities.
“We are proud to team up with a club that is successful and known for the passion and professionalism that they bring to the field,” says Lionel.

“The Waratahs also enjoy the support of many high profile businesses and we are happy to be among them and bring their attention to Schneider Electric and what we do.”
Jason Allen reiterated this message welcoming Schneider Electric, a market leader in energy management on board.
“Waratahs Rugby is extremely excited to welcome Schneider Electric on board at the dawn of a new era for the competition.
“The HSBC Waratahs are innovative and exciting on the field and are always striving for excellence and integrity in everything they set out to achieve.
“Those qualities strongly reflect Schneider Electric’s attributes in their field of business making our relationship one which has parallel and complementary goals.”
The HSBC Waratahs played their first match back in 1882 against their arch rivals and this weekend’s opponents, the Queensland Reds. They have been Australia’s most successful side in recent times, qualifying for the Super Rugby finals series in four of the past six years, making the final twice and finishing third in 2010.
The relationship between Waratahs Rugby and Schneider Electric has been launched at an exciting time for Super Rugby. The competition has expanded to 15 teams this year in a longer season which will be played in a new three-conference system across Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.
The Tahs won last Friday’s season opener against the new Melbourne Rebels with a comprehensive 43-0 victory at AAMI Park. Their first home game takes place this Saturday against the Queensland Reds at the home of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, ANZ Stadium.
