A point of emphasis with the Dirac software is that it optimises all sound from the computer using any music/media player as well as standard sound output devices. It was designed to be very easy-to-use but also highly precise and without compromise in terms of sound quality and/or flexibility for the advanced user. Because the Dirac software uses the computer as a digital signal processing engine, there is no need for additional costly audio electronics. It is an ideal solution for anyone seeking better performance from their computer-based hi-fi system.

“The Dirac Live Room Correction Suite has been tailored to the growing number of consumers who are using their computer as an audio source,” says Dirac chief executive Dr. Mathias Johansson.

“We have leveraged the processing power of the home computer, enabling each user to optimize their listening experience based on their existing speakers and environment.”

The Dirac Live Room Correction Suite is based upon an acclaimed digital signal processing technology born from years of research and development. Used by digital cinemas around the world, leading consumer electronics manufacturers and automakers such as Rolls Royce, BMW and Bentley, Dirac has become an established leader in loudspeaker and room optimisation. Now available at a completely different price range than ever before, music aficionados will enjoy how the software tightens the bass, removes resonances, focuses the stereo image and makes voices smooth and clear.

The suite supports up to 8 channels and up to 24 bit resolution at a 96 kHz sampling rate. The technology is unique in that it corrects not only the frequency response but also the impulse response of the signal, in contrast with other solutions that do not optimise the impulse response. Correcting both the frequency and impulse responses yields remarkable improvements in the stereo image, clarity and overall reproduction of the music.
