Dahua is a secure success at Integrate
Dahua’s stand at integrate was full of security cameras and screens that showed what they captured. The company was particularly pleased to show off its latest TiOC range which is based on the acronym, three-in-one. This refers to its cameras which integrate full-colour monitoring, AI and active deterrence.
Dahua’s channel sales manager, Gary Brown, explained that the cameras feature two-way microphones and speakers to communicate with anyone from burglars to family members. A siren could sound, and, on one model, red-and-blue lights would flash if it detected someone that wasn’t supposed to be where they were.

Gary said that the newer cameras were TiOC 2.0 based, and these started entering the market eight months ago. They can intelligently switch between white light and IR, use PTZ to automatically track subjects and support different rules for different areas. They also feature improved audio detection and video clarity.
Gary also said Dahua would also soon be launching new technologies like its 3X Series. Products utilising 3X would sport better lenses and filters.
Conversation turned to the forthcoming SMD 4.0 (Smart Motion Detection) chip. Previous versions could differentiate between humans and vehicles but the new iteration could now differentiate between humans and animals.
Gary said that this “would help reduce false alarm rates and the notifications sent when a cat or a dog walked past… Otherwise, after a while, it’s like crying wolf – you stop paying attention to them.”
The SMD 4.0 chip could also identify objects faster and even identify colours on subjects.
He then briefly showed off Dahua’s Smart Interactive Whiteboard: “One of the features of our whiteboard is that it can detect 20-touches instead of the usual two or three.”
Dahua is currently making a big push in the Australian market and Gary agreed that they had a renewed focus on marketing, with some really good distributors now carrying their products. He said that their portfolio was broader than people realised.
“We have a lot more technology and do a lot more than just the basic camera. Now, we’ve got the TiOC cameras, the 3X range, Dahua Swing Turnstiles, access control and intercoms. We’ve a whole package – we’re not just a CCTV company. We’re the second largest manufacturer of security devices in the world.”
He concluded, with a smile: “If you’re not buying Dahua, you’re not buying the best!”
