Current Audio Dipole/Bipole architectural speakers
Both models in the series, the CS654DBFL and CS650DBFL were also on display at the company’s Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) booth in Amsterdam last week.
This dual-purpose speaker rolls both side surround and surround back applications in one package, with a switch on the tweeter bridge deciding functionality. The dipole function sets tweeters out of phase to create a null around the listening area that detunes the localisation for ambience, while the bipole functionality sets tweeters in phase to enhance localisation for Dolby Digital EX, DTS-ES, THX-EX and Dolby True HD. Taking into account that magnets accumulate debris that cause them to lose connectivity over time, and also increase the price of manufacturing without added value due to rising mining costs, this series also features the magnet-less, bezel-less FastLoc grills that install in less than 30 seconds every single time.
The highest end offering, the CS654DBFL, is built with the best woofer materials, including a 6.5” woven carbon fibre driver with a butyl rubber surround and two 1” diffractionless ferrofluid-cooled dome tweeters. The ceramic-coated aluminum tweeters deliver ultra clear, high frequency sound. Priced a bit more economically, the CS650DBFL features a 6.5” MetaPlex composite driver with a butyl rubber surround, as well as two 1” diffractionless silk ferrofluid-cooled dome tweeters.
