Control4 unveils new PowerPak line of power control devicesControl4 has announced the new Pakedge PowerPak family of power control devices featuring surge protection and intelligent power management for all equipment in a connected home.

The new PowerPak PDUs provide centralised power control and are BakPak-enabled, allowing dealers to monitor and manage PowerPak PDUs for their entire customer base in a single interface. Using BakPak, technicians can now define voltage and current thresholds for connected devices, receiving alerts if a device exceeds these thresholds and may be experiencing issues.

“On average, there are over 40 connected devices in a Control4 smart home. The high-impact combination of BakPak and our new PowerPak line gives our dealers powerful tools to monitor and manage virtually all the gear in their customers’ homes — stepping in to remediate issues before they even become apparent to the homeowner. Having the ability to remotely troubleshoot issues will save our dealers time and money,” said Control4 vice president of product management Paul Williams.

The PowerPak line has been updated to include new features such as thresholds for current and voltage draw, as well as self-healing for non-responsive devices. The PowerPak family of power control devices consists of nine outlets for the US and North America and eight with IEC plugs for international markets.

The Pakedge PowerPak PDUs have built-in UL1449 surge protection to safeguard connected equipment against power spikes and leverage SafeStart boot sequencing to power on devices such as modems, routers and switches in the appropriate order.

Devices powered with a PowerPak PDU can be managed in a group or individually with port-level control and monitoring.

PowerPak outlets can be pre-programmed and are individually controllable through telnet or web browser.
