Success stories for Christie and its M 4K25 RGB slowly developed into something revolutionary for the company, but it wasn’t originally meant for home cinema. Casey McGuire looks at how the projector is a front-runner for the home cinema experience.
In a fortunate discovery for Christie, the M 4K25 RGB projector proved to be an ideal fit for home cinemas. This projector series is exclusively marketed for home theatre applications in Australia and New Zealand through a partnership with Wavetrain Cinemas and Cogworks.
Wavetrain Cinemas and Christie won the Best Global Home Cinema Award in the 2023 CEDIA Awards for the Cloister Cinema, a project that was celebrated, in part, for its advanced use of projection technology.

Wavetrain Cinemas had its outstanding success because of Christie’s M 4K25 RGB and Wavetrain Cinemas managing director David Moseley says that the RGB pure laser projector was instrumental in achieving the cinema’s remarkable visual performance.
“We push aesthetic boundaries because our clients seek an escape not just into a movie, but through the theatrical experience of great architectural design,” David says. “Few peers match our level of detail, but total control is essential to deliver unique, boutique designs while honouring our profession.”
Benefits of the M 4K25 RGB
“There is a growing overlap between commercial and home solutions as customers become more aware of high-end systems, regardless of the intended market,” Christie senior business development manager for Australia and New Zealand Greg Spence says.
“Simultaneously, a growing number of high-end homes are being designed with dedicated entertainment spaces that rival the capabilities of commercial venues.”
To become a high-end option for the market, the Christie M 4K25 RGB offers 25,300 lumens of brightness, 4K UHD resolution and support for Rec. 2020 colour space to deliver vivid and true-to-life visuals. It has a compact design, it’s quiet to operate and its energy efficiency compliments the advanced performance. This all makes it suited for an immersive home viewing experience.
Elevate the home cinema experience
Christie has focused on the colour of the content being consumed. It wants the colour to pop off the screen and allow the audience to see the actions in dimly lit scenes. The RGB pure illumination delivers superior colour saturation, contrast and detail which covers approximately 98% of the Rec. 2020 colour gamut.
“This ensures more real-world colours and lifelike visuals, from vibrant landscapes to dimly lit scenes,” Greg says.
“Its high contrast ratio, enhanced by Ultra High Contrast (UHC) lenses, delivers remarkable depth and fine detail, immersing viewers in every frame while maintaining impressive brightness levels on screen.”
The M 4K25 RGB can be adjusted to get the perfect balance of brightness and contrast while enhancing clarity and reducing eye strain for long periods of viewership.
Key features
The Christie M 4K25 RGB pure laser projector was the ideal projection system for the Cloister Cinema.
Its ability to achieve Rec. 2020 colour space ensures vivid, lifelike visuals while its high brightness and contract capabilities create distinct depth and detail to deliver an experience that perfectly aligns with a home owner’s vision.
The projector is designed for flexibility so it can be precisely calibrated to optimise performance. It also offers a measured brightness of 130 nits while delivering a perceived brightness of close to 200 nits. The native 2,700:1 on/off contrast ratio enhances black levels and image quality to provide clarity in dark and vibrant scenes.
What separates the Christie projector from the rest of the market?
Ok, after hearing all of this, what makes the Christie M 4K25 RGB different to other competitors?
It’s a small, lightweight, fully omnidirectional 3DLP RGB pure laser projector and weighs 41.7kg. There is no requirement to purchase additional input cards as all the connections are built-in, and amazingly it only needs a standard 10amp 240v wall power outlet.
Christie TruLife+’s “all-in” connectivity makes it easier to switch inputs whenever required. TruLife+ electronics are the basis for all Christie 3DLP projectors. The platform supports video-processing pipeline of up to 1.2Gpx/s to enable 4K at 120Hz performance.
Christie’s proprietary LiteLOC technology can automatically change the projectors brightness over time when in higher ambient temperatures and humid environments. The volume is 49.4dB when in standard mode and the integrated user interface with full-colour LCD lets the home owner to see input signal thumbnails and projector health immediately.
Users can access all projector menus and controls through Christie’s Ethernet web interface for real-time adjustments and monitoring each projector on the users’ network.
The M 4K25 RGB uses proprietary pixel-shifting technology that delivers the full 3940 x 2160 pixel resolution onscreen for sharp detail.
