Chowmainsoft has released a Sky Stream IP Driver for Control4, enabling native network-based control of Sky Stream devices over a local IP network.

The driver replaces the previous infrared-based solution, which was developed before Sky Stream supported IP control. It provides IP-based navigation, transport controls and menu functions, eliminating the need for IR emitters during normal operation.

The driver also supports Wake-on-LAN on compatible Sky Stream hardware. However, some earlier Sky Stream devices may still require an IR emitter to power on due to hardware limitations, with all subsequent control handled over IP.

The IP functionality is available as a free update for existing users of Chowmain’s Sky+ HD, Sky Q and Sky Stream driver. Chowmainsoft recommends enabling automatic driver updates to maintain compatibility as Sky periodically updates the security certificates used by Sky Stream.
