Chowmainsoft releases Control4 driver for Philips Google TV displays
Chowmainsoft has released a driver for integrating compatible Philips Google TV televisions with Control4 automation systems.
The Philips Google TV driver uses Google’s native Google TV protocol to communicate with compatible televisions over a local network. The integration doesn’t require third-party software, additional hardware or a cloud service.

The driver is designed to work with compatible Philips televisions running Google TV OS across different regional markets, including Australia, Europe, the UK and the US.
It provides bi-directional IP control and feedback for functions including power, volume, mute and input selection. Users can also access navigation and remote-control commands, as well as play, pause and stop transport controls.
Playback state and the currently playing title can be returned to Control4, while direct channel tuning and tuner input control are also supported.
The driver supports Control4 Mini Apps, allowing installed applications to be launched from the Control4 interface. Applications can also be opened directly by package name using the Open App command.
An Open Deep Link command allows supported content or locations within applications to be launched directly. The driver also includes additional Google TV remote key codes for custom programming and keypad mappings.
The integration communicates directly with the television using the Google TV protocol, rather than relying on a region-specific Philips API.
