CEDIA, the global trade association for the smart home technology industry, has commenced collaboration with Box Hill Institute, a leading vocational education provider in Victoria, to enhance smart home technology education in Australia.

As part of this program, 12 students from Box Hill Institute’s Certificate II in Electrotechnology program have been enrolled in CEDIA’s Cabling & Infrastructure Technician (CIT) pathway, marking a significant step forward for the industry and underscoring Box Hill Institute’s commitment to equipping students with the necessary skills for successful careers in the electrotechnology sector.

We are thrilled to partner with Box Hill Institute to offer the CEDIA Cabling & Infrastructure Technician pathway to their students,” CEDIA regional development consultant for Australia and New Zealand Paul Skelton says.

“This initiative represents a major leap forward for smart home technology education in Australia, providing students with comprehensive training and industry-relevant knowledge.”

The availability of the CEDIA CIT pathway to Box Hill Institute’s students will equip them with essential skills related to cabling, infrastructure and the installation of smart home systems. By offering specialised training in this rapidly evolving field, Box Hill Institute aims to meet the growing demand for skilled professionals in the smart home technology sector.

Paul commends the Box Hill Institute for its decision to upskill students and prepare them for successful careers: “We applaud the proactive approach of Box Hill Institute in ensuring that their students are at the forefront of the electrotechnology industry. By providing them with access to the CEDIA CIT pathway, these students will receive industry-recognised qualifications, enhancing their employability and enabling them to thrive in this exciting field.”

The success of this collaboration would not have been possible without the invaluable contributions of Box Hill Institute Student Mentor – Trades, Sarah Wootten and Wired By MJD Director, Michael Daly, who played pivotal roles in making this partnership a reality.

Paul says that CEDIA has more exciting news around the corner regarding education in Australia and Zealand.
