CEDIA’s sustainability focused programs will include offerings on energy management, energy audits, photovoltaic systems and more. They are part of CEDIA’s Sustainable Lifestyles Initiative, which seeks to support CEDIA members and industry businesses in pursuing environmental responsibility.

The offerings will include two courses in CEDIA University’s Electronic Systems Designer college, energy audit training from the Residential Services Network (RESNET) and the Home Energy Team Institute (HETI) and two certification opportunities from RESNET and HETI.

CEDIA will also offer a keynote panel discussion on The Future of Energy Management at 9am on September 26 following its Annual Membership Meeting. The keynote panel will feature leaders in consumer technology, energy management and smart grid technology offering their perspective on energy management and the electronic systems industry. The keynote panel is open to all registered attendees free of charge.

“CEDIA is committed to helping its members demonstrate that technology can be a core component of reducing environmental impact,” CEDIA US CEO Utz Baldwin says.

“Our Sustainable Lifestyles Initiative will help equip CEDIA Expo attendees with the tools they need to meet the growing demand for meaningful eco-conscious home technology solutions.”

A focus on sustainability will also be on display in CEDIA’s Future Technology Pavilion, which will highlight energy monitoring systems as part of a broader look at emerging trends in home technology. Additionally, CEDIA’s Electronic Lifestyles Awards competition will recognise a manufacturer for Sustainable Lifestyles Product Innovation in 2010.
