Sponsored by AMX, Control 4, Crestron, Kaleidescape and Rako, the CEDIA Awards celebrate the system design, installation and integration excellence in the home technology sector. Over 160 remarkable submissions from 15 different countries, representing a 61% increase on entries compared to the previous year, competed for the top media room, home cinema, integrated home, superyacht and other category prizes.

“We have been overwhelmed by the outstanding quality in this record-breaking year for entries,” says CEDIA Region 1 chairman Gary Lewis.

“The creativity of the participating companies has shown what is possible to achieve in the current expanding industry. This year’s winners have truly set the benchmark higher for next year. The continuing support from the industry for the scheme is the foundation of its success, and we would like to thanks all companies who have taken the time and effort to enter the CEDIA Awards 2013.”

Winners ranged from a superb media room in Pakistan, sensitively converted into an ‘invisible’ multi-purpose living area with electrifying sound quality to a truly extraordinary eco home in Yorkshire, fully integrated with photovoltaics and rainwater harvesting.

For the first time ever, one category proved too close to call with an ultra-cool, and superbly crafted Dutch project from De Opera Domotica and a technically amazing cinema in the UK from Imagine This announced as joint winners in the Best Home Cinema Over £100,000 category.

Award-winning tech writer and broadcaster, Emma Barnett, the current woman’s editor of the Daily Telegraph, presented the Awards to the winners in front of more than 300 guests in the dazzling black-tie ceremony. The projects represent the crème de la crème of home technology design and installation across the UK, Europe, Middle East, Africa, India and Pakistan. Alongside the winners, the judges awarded Highly Commended recognition to projects which reached an exceptionally high standard yet did not win the ultimate prize.

In the new Showroom category, integrator Finite Solutions emerged victorious whilst distributor Aldous Systems scooped the Training Initiative of the Year award and Crestron won the CEDIA Trade Supplier of the Year, a prize chosen by the industry in an online vote.

Emily Senior from House & Garden secured the coveted media-only award for the Best Article on home technology integration, following an extensive feature in the February 2013 issue.

The final accolade of the evening was the Special Recognition Award which CEDIA presented to Simon Buddle of SMC.

Following their success at the awards, the below dealers expressed their thoughts on their achievements.

De Opera Domotica director Jacco Troost says, “Winning two CEDIA awards is the best compliment we could achieve as this was our most challenging and complex project yet. We would like to thank CEDIA who have recognised all of the hard work our team has put in.”

Imagine This managing director Guy Singleton says, “The CEDIA awards is a fantastic event, where the very finest companies in our sector showcase the ultimate projects from their portfolio. We feel incredibly proud to have won the Best Home Cinema Over £100k Award. We have a high market position and an enviable reputation for the design and delivery of the finest screening rooms. Recognition from CEDIA endorses this, showing us and others that we are operating at the very highest level.”

Lewis Building Technology managing director Justin Rhodes says, “The whole team was delighted to win our second CEDIA award on Friday for the Best Integrated Home under £30,000. We were working for a developer on this project who was looking to maximise their return on investment in the technology. The project was a great success and the property sold very quickly in a tough housing market, so to win an award as well is the icing on the cake! Thank you to the CEDIA team for a great awards dinner.”
