The CEDIA Foundation, in partnership with CEDIA, has launched its inaugural workforce development campaign: 100 Techs in 100 Days.

This will run from 12 May to 20 August 2025, and it aims to open doors for careers in the smart home industry by funding technical training for aspiring technicians.

Accepted applications will get free access to CEDIA Smart Home Fundamentals, an online course that covers foundational skills like wiring, proper tool use and safety practices, supporting installation risks and demonstrating jobsite readiness.

The campaign is designed to make a career in smart home technology more accessible for individuals from underserved communities, veterans, career changers and students.

“Strengthening our workforce is one of the most important investments we can make to secure the future of our industry,” CEDIA Foundation chairperson David Weinstein says.

“I’m deeply grateful for the early support of our members, whose generous donations have helped bring 100 Techs in 100 Days to life so quickly.”

The CEDIA Foundation invites CEDIA members, educators and industry partners to expand the campaign by referring a candidate or making a donation.

“CEDIA members are our best allies in getting this campaign off the ground because no one can describe this industry, or inspire the next generation, better than those already living it,” CEDIA Foundation operations and workforce development manager Tara Guertin says.

“Whether it’s a family member, a tech-savvy neighbour or a student in your class looking for their next step, a conversation or shared link could spark a life-changing career.”

Interested applications for the CEDIA Foundation’s Workforce Development Award must complete the CEDIA Foundation Workforce Development Application by 20 August.
