CEDIA Expo reflects on a big year
Over 20,000 attendees and 500 exhibitors attended the CEDIA Expo at the Colorado Convention Centre earlier this month.
Technology integrators, manufacturers and design professionals packed the show floor with products and solutions, driving discussion and business development within the ever-evolving industry.
The event was a great success according to Emerald Expositions executive vice president Brian Pagel.
“Market feedback from the 2018 event was foundational to our strategy and drove many of the innovative new activation areas throughout the show floor. This was supplemented by engaging content and networking opportunities all week long.”
The Expo also offers a comprehensive range of education courses.
CEDIA chief executive Tabatha O’Connor says: “With 125 courses covering all ranges of experience and six courses offered in Spanish at the 2019 show, CEDIA Expo continues to be the destination for beginning a new career or gaining expert-level educational credits in the residential technology field.”
The Expo also saw the return of show floor programming as well the debut of a number of new programs.
At Innovation Alley, the new TechStarter program gave new exhibitors the chance to pitch their business models in the hope of winning $2,500 USD. The overall TechStarter winner was Hero Labs, with SandTrap Audio, Konnected, Artio Lighting and Caavo Inc also part of the TechStarter FIVE winners.
The Design + Connection Pavilion, powered by NKBA and ASID, once again provided a bridge between the design and tech communities. Also taking part were AION LED, Brondell and Danby Appliances.
Tech Collider included three lounge style chats from industry leaders discussing topics such as healthy home living and making connections between designers and integrators, among others.
Design + Connection Tours saw 34 VIP designers, architects, builders and media brought to 20 brand booths by technology integrators Peter Cook and Jamie Briesemeister.
The NKBA also held its Thought Leadership Summit at the event.
There was an added focus on wellness and health-focused technology at this year’s Expo, as evidenced by the Delos-supported Wellness Pavilion which featured new wellness technology products and education on what that incorporates.
Participants included: Delos Living,Broan – Nutone, Aprilaire, RAYVA and Green Builder Media.
Within the Wellness Pavilion on the show floor, Delos created a Wellness Room where show attendees could take refuge from the busy show floor to enjoy ambient power naps, guided mediations, biophilic soundscapes and narrated journeys through nature.
There was also a dedicated security pavilion featuring products from: Amaryllo, Axis Communications, Bosch Security and Safety Systems, Digital Watchdog, Leviton Mfg. Co, OPTEX Inc, Platinum Tools, ProdataKey and Schlage Lock Company LLC.
TechTalks and TechBites lead industry discussions in two different formats with the latter acting as a type of ‘speed date’ event.
The CE Pro BEST Project and Product winners were announced in two separate ceremonies which honoured winners in a number of different categories.
The Best Booth Awards celebrated the impactful and engaging stalls at the expo.
The winners were: Best in Show: Google Nest; Best Booth (small): Control4 Tiny Smart Home; Best Booth (medium): Leon Speakers; Best Booth (large): Sonance; Best Booth Honorable Mention: Josh.ai.
