a445b417155c2f37_orgCEDIA (the Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association) EMEA has announced that WaterAid is its nominated charity for this year’s CEDIA Awards.

WaterAid is an international charity dedicated to transforming lives by improving access to safe water, improved hygiene and sanitation in the world’s poorest communities. With a progressive and sustainable ethos, WaterAid works with local partners to help invest in the future of local communities to ensure the good work continues.

“WaterAid has already helped over 21 million people worldwide and we are very proud to be able to help their continued efforts with donations from the CEDIA awards this year” explains executive director of CEDIA EMEA Wendy Griffiths. “Access to clean water is something many of us take for granted, but for around 748 million people, it is a basic need that is very hard to source. The money we raise this year will undoubtedly have a profound effect on a great number of lives within the world’s poorest communities.”

CEDIA will donate £5 from the sale of each CEDIA Award’s ticket to WaterAid.  This year’s ceremony is taking place at the Natural History Museum in London, and with over 350 guests expected to attend, CEDIA anticipates that this will help them reach a sizable donation.

“It’s always a great pleasure to welcome new supporters of WaterAid and we are delighted that CEDIA has chosen to help us achieve our vision of a world where everyone everywhere has access to safe, clean water and improved sanitation.” says communications and fundraising director at WaterAid Marcus Missen. “These basic necessities help people take their first steps out of poverty, and so the money raised really will help transform lives.”

WaterAid works in 26 of the world’s poorest countries. One of WaterAid’s current projects is based in Malawi, providing life-saving water, sanitation facilities and temporary shelter to thousands of people displaced by the devastating floods that occurred earlier this year.
