The Avon series is the new Transmission Line System range from Castle. Retaining their hand built, real wood veneers and featuring the latest technology in Transmission Line systems, the Avon loudspeakers are at the forefront of pure and precise sound that has been polished to perfection.

Castle engineers embarked on a three year investigation into the acoustics, mathematics and all performance aspects of Transmission Line loudspeakers. The engineers solved age old problems using advanced computer modelling to yield floor standing loudspeakers that provide the highest possible bass articulation and extension.

The technology Castle has called TDTL (Twin Drive Transmission Line) is, for the very first time, in the new floor standing loudspeakers Avon 4 and Avon 5. This improves efficiency and bandwidth while delivering a distinguished powerful bass. Similarly, Avon 1 and Avon 2 bookshelf speakers as well as the centre speaker Avon C as a driver and cabinet combination use SDEL (Single Drive Extended Line) systems developed by Castle engineers with Transmission Line principles to provide powerful bass extension in a smaller unit.

Each of these high end speakers use a precision mid-range unit and ribbon tweeter arrangement that provide the utmost clarity and musical detail to perfectly match the advanced bass quality. Other technologies including 3-way configurations are employed on Avon 2, Avon 4 and Avon 5. These speakers include a special 115mm woven carbon fibre mid-range with a treble output from an advanced ribbon.

The ribbon tweeter perfectly complements the ultra-low bass extension from Castle’s research and development. An ultra-thin alloy sandwich acts as the voice-coil and diaphragm, while the whole radiating area is driven directly, responding accurately to the music signal without energy storage or breakup. This produces a supreme high end resolving the harmonic content of the music in a thrilling, natural way.

The Avon Series is available in a selection of hand polished, furniture quality veneers including Cherry, Walnut, Mahogany, Black Oak.
