Demand is set to increase as this technology moves from the cinema to home theatre entertainment systems.

“Home theatre enthusiasts are expected to embrace 3D as they look to bring the 3D experience, currently found in the cinema, into their homes” says Denis Kerr, Sharp Deputy Managing Director.

“3D requires a big screen to give viewers the full effect and that is what Sharp can offer to households across Australia. Only a Sharp projector with up to a 300” screen size can produce the cinema-like experience that 3D viewing deserves,” Kerr continued.

Sharp Corporation of Australia will release two new 3D-ready projectors in May. The PG-D2500X and PG-D2710X projectors offer advanced features, quick and easy operation and a compact design for home entertainment, education and business purposes.

Screen size is adjustable from 40” to a massive 300” and incorporate DLP Link technology for brilliant image quality with support for both 60-Hz and 120-Hz XGA and SVGA sources. When not used for 3D projection, the models are still compatible with traditional 2D content.

Both models provide XGA native resolution (1024×768) and HDTV compatibility for use with current and future video technologies as well as extensive connectivity from a variety of input sources: PCs, HD set top boxes, Blu-ray/DVD players and game consoles.

The projectors are well suited for permanent installations and offers additional features designed for safe mobility, sliding lens cover. Other useful features include theft deterrent system lock, key lock function and presentation assist functions by remote control (page up/down, pointer, spotlight and mouse control).

Active shutter 3D glasses that support the DLP Link system are required for 3D viewing and are sold separately.
