BenQ unleashes first THX HD Display-certified DLP 4K home cinema projector
BenQ has unveiled the W11000 digital home cinema projector, which is reportedly the only 4K DLP projector to earn THX HD Display certification.
Fully meeting CEA’s requirements for true 4K UHD with 8.3MP resolution, W11000’s THX certification guarantees cinematic performance to replicate the experience of attending a commercial digital cinema.
Harnessing UHD DMD with XPR technology, the W11000 produces 3,840 x 2,160 distinct pixels for true 8.3MP 4K UHD resolution. 1-chip DLP technology ensures colour accuracy and image integrity without artifacts that can be introduced by panel alignment issues, especially critical at 4K with four times finer pixels than 1080p. BenQ’s optimised 4K optical system then employs 16 high-resolution elements, a true zoom system, and special low-dispersion lens coatings to preserve spectacular visual quality for an authentic digital cinema experience.

The W11000 underwent over 18 months of development and 200 THX laboratory tests covering over 500 data points to ensure strict Rec. 709 colour accuracy, precise gamma, ideal colour temperature, enhanced uniformity and super high native contrast ratio requirements for THX certification, guaranteeing accurate delivery of authentic cinematic content as filmmakers originally intended. Featuring high 400:1 native ANSI contrast ratio, Dynamic Black technology, SmartEco and proprietary black paint sealed light engine produces an astounding 50,000:1 dynamic contrast performance for fine detail rendition in the darkest and brightest scenes without washout to preserve every subtlety of the original content.
The W11000’s stunning picture quality is further enhanced by CinemaMaster image processing technology, improving smooth motion, vivid colour reproduction, motion-adaptive edge definition, flesh tone correction, and advanced digital colour and luminance noise reduction. Calibrated by THX engineers for the best possible out-of-box picture quality, W11000 is ISFccc calibration ready, enabling professional in-home custom calibration. With CinemaMaster and ISFccc calibration, W11000 provides unmatched colour depth and accuracy as well as breathtaking realism and clarity to true 4K UHD images.
The W11000 natively supports 2.35:1 anamorphic aspect ratio, offering the ultra-wide CinemaScope experience of commercial digital cinemas. Its true UHD performance opens a wider viewing angle to allow comfortable viewing of ultra-detailed 4K images up close, maximizing the useable screen size in any given space for a mesmerizingly immersive movie watching experience.
Powered by the durability of DLP technology and the industrial-strength DMD chip, W11000 delivers long-lasting picture quality with precise colours and razor-sharp clarity without maintenance or degradation.
With a streamlined style featuring sleek front-facing fan design, W11000 blends seamlessly into upscale home cinema aesthetics. Its unobstructed port architecture features extra space to accommodate thick high-quality cables and HDMI cable locking to hold them securely in place. In addition, to fit perfectly into any home cinema, W11000 features 2D H/V lens shift and 1.5X big zoom for precise custom installations.
The BenQ W11000 will be available from mid-November in Australia. To find out more about BenQ projectors, visit www.BenQ.com.au.
