Barco’s HDBaseT-enabled Residential Orion Cinemascope is the world’s first lamp-based single-chip DLP projector that combines native cinemascope aspect ratio (2,560 x 1,080) resolution with active stereo 3D and high frame rates. It uses 78% more pixels for native 2:37:1 vs. a standard 1080p projector, by expanding both width and height uniformly. The HDBaseT input gives the product increased flexibility and versatility in terms of deployment at the home, as the projector can be either table or ceiling-mounted, up to 100m/328ft distance from source equipment.

The compact, quiet unit is suitable for media rooms or dedicated cinema rooms.

“The Orion Cinemascope provides electronic systems contractors a unique value proposition, offering unprecedented image quality in native Cinemascope resolution in a compact and silent projector package. It features an attractive high end design and class-leading build quality, fitting with the lifestyle of their discerning, high end customers. By integrating HDBaseT into the unit’s design, we bring increased flexibility and simplicity to home installations, and enlarge the market potential for the unit. We are happy to join the Alliance and help it promote the HDBaseT standard,” Barco’s Tim Sinnaeve says.

“Barco brings many years of experience in high end professional visualization, and we are looking forward to working with them to bring additional HDBaseT solutions to the market. As the Alliance continues to grow, we are happy to see companies of Barco’s caliber join us with innovative solutions like the Orion Cinemascope,” Micha Risling, Chair of the Marketing Committee at the HDBaseT Alliance says.
