Apple has introduced HomeView, a 7” smart home display combining entertainment, communications and home automation, with a new version of Siri powered by Apple Intelligence.

Designed as a shared household device with personalised experiences for individual users, HomeView supports music streaming, FaceTime calls, smart home control and home monitoring. It can sit on a tabletop or be wall-mounted, with the latter version compatible with purpose-built mounts from Schneider Home.

The display uses facial recognition to identify up to six people, providing each with a personalised home screen and access to individual content in apps including Messages, FaceTime, Calendar, Reminders and Find My. Apple says personal information remains private, with individual content displayed only when the recognised user is present alongside their recently unlocked, paired iPhone or iPad.

HomeView features Siri AI, which Apple describes as a more capable and conversational version of its voice assistant. The system supports general knowledge queries, music discovery and onscreen awareness. When paired with an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad, it can also draw on personal context from apps such as Messages and Calendar to provide more tailored responses and take actions across apps.

For smart home applications, HomeView allows users to control compatible accessories by touch or voice, including adjusting lighting, locking doors, closing blinds and viewing camera feeds. Its Home Camera interface can display up to nine video feeds simultaneously.

With a supported iCloud+ subscription, compatible cameras can provide end-to-end encrypted recognition of people, familiar faces, pets, packages and vehicles. HomeView can also generate descriptions of HomeKit Secure Video footage and detect smoke or carbon monoxide alarm sounds, sending alerts to a user’s iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch.

The system supports Apple Home and Matter-compatible accessories, as well as Apple’s Home Collection range of cameras, thermostats and a smart lock, developed in collaboration with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric.

Audio is delivered through two full-range drivers in the display, supported by a down-firing woofer and two force-cancelling passive radiators in the base. Computational audio adjusts loudness and bass response, while the wall-mounted model uses two drivers and audio processing tuned for on-wall placement.

HomeView also supports Apple Music, Apple Podcasts, Apple TV and compatible third-party audio and video apps. Users can extend playback throughout the home using multiple HomeView devices, HomePod and HomePod mini speakers and compatible AirPlay speakers.

The display features an aluminium design, a stainless steel hinge for adjustable tabletop viewing and adaptive brightness ranging from 500-0.3 nits. It will be available in silver, starlight, rose pink and space grey, with the wall-mounted model offered in silver and space grey.

Apple says HomeView incorporates its A18 chip and Secure Exclaves technology to isolate camera and microphone data from the rest of the system. Siri requests are processed on-device or through Private Cloud Compute, which Apple says doesn’t store user data or make it accessible to the company.

The device also incorporates recycled materials, including 100% recycled aluminium in the tabletop model’s base, recycled gold plating and tin solder in Apple-designed printed circuit boards and recycled rare earth elements in all magnets.
