Ants infest electronics in the US
Nylanderia fulva, better known as Tawny crazy ants, are around 3.2mm in length and are covered with reddish-brown hairs. Their miniscule size allows them to enter electronics, such as AC units, appliances, computers and cell phones, which causes them to short circuit.
Mike Matthews, an exterminator in Austin, Texas has seen a wealth of AC systems being tormented by the ants.
“When you open these things up, you see thousands of the ants, just completely filling them up,” he says.

In one extreme case in Waco, Texas, the ants quickly spread to 90 out of 150 AC units in an apartment building.
The crazy ants reproduce in large numbers, sometimes outnumbering local species of ants 100-to-1.
