The Epica DGX 16 fibre matrix switcher gives installers a more compact solution while providing the same performance and support for the ground-breaking SmartScale technology that propelled the Epica DGX fibre matrix switcher line to the most successful launch in AMX history.

As fibre is becoming more widely installed, the Epica DGX 16 fibre matrix switcher provides a platform to take advantage of its higher-bandwidth and deliver any combination of DVI, RGBHV, HDMI, audio and oneway RS-232 control signals up to 914m.

For campuses, hospitals, large venues and other settings where audio and video need to be sent to multiple displays across great distances, the Epica DGX 16 fibre matrix switcher uncompromisingly transmits high resolution 1920×1200 video at a data rate of 4.95 Gbps to up to 16 LCD screens.

“The best of fibre matrix switching just got smaller,” says AMX chief technology officer Robert Noble.

“The Epica DGX fibre line simplifies fibre, enabling installers to deliver high quality installations through smart technology such as digital and analogue transcoding and SmartScale, a revolutionary technology in the DGX Receivers that automatically communicates with display devices, determines native resolutions and then delivers the optimal resolution to each display.”

SmartScale works by automatically responding to a display’s declared EDID information then optimising the video resolution and video parameters for each display throughout a deployment. This produces a marked improvement in performance and installation time.

Without SmartScale, in installations consisting of multiple displays of various types, the programmer is forced to settle for distributing common resolution imagery to all displays, as the lower resolution displays cannot handle the higher resolutions. The consequence is grainy images in higher resolution displays.
