AmberAdvanced audio and visual technologies traditionally found in higher-end models are now available in Onkyo’s new entry-level AV receivers. Like all current Onkyo AV receivers, the new 7.2 channel TX-NR545 and 5.1 channel TX-SR343 models have been engineered for universal high resolution compatibility and ease-of-use to deliver exceptional audio quality.

An extension to the Onkyo Dolby Atmos range of AV receivers, the TX-NR545 delivers multidimensional sound for the most captivating user experience possible. Dolby Atmos produces object-based surround playback that can be heard from all directions, resulting in 360 degree, three dimensional sound. For example, users can hear an arrow flying overhead or feel the tremors of a volcanic eruption. The TX-NR545 also has the 384 kHz/32-bit digital to analogue converter (DAC) to improve the listening experience further.

Bluetooth and built-in Wi-Fi enables users to stream tunes wirelessly via the included remote app. In addition, this gives users access to extensive high quality audio from a range of internet streaming services such as Spotify Connect, Tune-in and Deezer. Users can also play music from compatible iOS devices thanks to AirPlay and its free dedicated app.

For a simple set-up process, Onkyo’s proprietary AccuEQ calibration system ensures the surround sound is automatically optimised to suit individual room acoustics and speakers for the best possible listening environment.

The TX-SR343 offers lots of useful features at an affordable price. Bluetooth streaming with audio optimisation enables users to stream tunes wirelessly, while Burr-Brown DAC enhances the audio quality further.

Its modified front panel and pictorial rear panel deliver two-fold benefits to users. These panels make the task of controlling and connecting various sources, such as gaming consoles and media players, a breeze. The TX-SR343 is capable of transforming into a full audio and video streaming entertainment system via a streaming box input for devices such as Google Chromecast. Furthermore, this can be powered by a dedicated 5V 1A USB output, making the TX-SR343 a central entertainment hub for the home.

Features available on both new AV receivers

Designed to be future-ready, the new AV receivers are compatible with the HDCP 2.2 copy protection standard. This feature will become increasingly widespread in the coming years as Hollywood studios, satellite broadcasters and IPTV services have agreed to adopt this new copy protection feature for future 4K content as well as other premium studio releases.

Both models support 4K UltraHD video at 60 frames per second to produce stunning moving pictures. The AV receivers up-convert video from analogue formats (such as VHS) to a single HDMI output for improved picture quality, making it ideal for enjoying content from a variety of media sources, old and new. Ideal for managing fluctuations in usage, the new AV receivers also use Onkyo’s custom high-current power supply, boosting the performance and safeguarding an adequate reserve of power.
