Amber Technology and ABB have expanded their distribution agreement for ABB I-bus KNX and ABB-free@home into the New Zealand market. This comes after the extension of Amber Technology’s Australian agreement to include ABB-free@home in April 2025, and builds on the companies’ partnership, which began in 2024.

The new settlement aims to strengthen Amber Technology’s presence in the residential and commercial installer network in the Australian and New Zealand markets. It is set to provide a full suite of automation and lighting control systems for building projects of all sizes in both sectors.

New Zealand integrators and installers can expect greater product availability and accessibility for customers.

ABB-free@home can transform any residence into a sophisticated smart home, offering seamless control over blinds, lights, heating, air conditioning, door communication and customised scenes. It enables homeowners to manage these systems using intuitive wall switches, laptops or smartphones, enhancing comfort and energy efficiency whilst reducing costs, compared to traditional electrical setups.

New Zealand-based integrators and installers will also gain access to AVV I-bus KNX through Amber Technology, as part of the partnership. ABB I-bus KNX is a smart home and building automation system, built on the globally recognised KNX standard. It connects all electrical components into a unified network, providing transparent and optimal information flow throughout an installation.

ABB marketing and sales director, smart power and smart building divisions – electrification, Duncan Baker, says that ABB is delighted to extend its partnership with Maber Technology into the New Zealand market.

“Amber Technology’s expertise and market reach in the local region will play a role in expanding the installer network, making ABB I-bus KNX and ABB-free@home the building automation solution of choice. ABB looks forward to building on its existing successful collaboration with Amber Technology,” he says.

Amber Technology’s general manager of integrated solutions, Nathan Brady, echoes a similar statement.

“Amber Technology is thrilled to expand its relationship with ABB into New Zealand. As demand for building automation and smart home technology continues to grow, ABB I-bus KNX and ABB-free@home will simplify automation without compromising functionality,” he says.
