In fact, any device that has a serial (RS232) interface can be controlled by using an Ethernet to Serial adapter.
“The iViewer’s interface must be programmed using our guiDesigner software (a free download),” says CommanFusion’s Jarrod Bell.
“So the solution requires either a custom installer with experience in home automation programming, or a DIY hobbiest with a high level of computer skills. This means it gives the integrator the ultimate freedom to create the interface to perfectly match their client’s needs.”

Once it is programmed, including commands, macros and feedback processing, it is uploaded to the iOS device where the iViewer app resides. When the user launches the app, they have complete control over their systems, including 2-way feedback from almost any device (such as volume levels or lighting levels).
“CF iViewer can control any number of systems capable of Ethernet (TCP or UDP) or Serial/IR (via an Ethernet adapter) communications. The programmer simply needs to know the protocol of the device they are controlling.
“We have had customers directly control a whole range of devices, including Crestron, AMX, media centre PCs, iTunes, Onkyo/Integra/Denon receivers, XBMC, NuVo, various TV sets, C-Bus, Dynalite, etc. No longer do you need an expensive control system such as Crestron, you can do the majority of what most customers want directly via our app.”
The app can be downloaded and tested for free, limited to a single page. A licence is required to enable page flips and subpages. Licenses start at $A159 for a single licence.
