BenQ launches AK900ST and AK800ST AI golf simulation projectors

BenQ has launched the AK900ST and AK800ST projectors, featuring adaptive image enhancement and automated setup capabilities designed for indoor golf simulation.

Both models incorporate BenQ AI Sim Sense, an image-enhancement technology powered by a built-in AI Processing Unit (APU). The system analyses golf simulation content, ambient lighting and the impact screen to automatically optimise colour, contrast, resolution and image clarity for the environment.

BenQ head of the Large Display Business Unit and Cloud Innovation Centre, Claire Huang, says the launch marks the company’s first step toward integrating AI into its projector portfolio.

“BenQ pioneered purpose-built projection solutions for golf simulation by moving beyond traditional projection to address the unique demands of immersive indoor golf experiences,” Claire says.

“Today marks our first step in bringing AI into our projector portfolio. Looking ahead, we will continue to advance AI-driven intelligence, automation and adaptive display technologies to deliver smarter, more intuitive projection experiences and shape the next generation of visual solutions.”

The AI Sim Sense technology is designed to reproduce course details, including the colours of fairways and greens, while adapting image output to different lighting conditions.

Both projectors also feature automated functions intended to reduce installation time and manual adjustments. Auto Screen Fit 2.0 detects and fits curved or flat impact screens at the press of a button, using an on-screen pattern covering 35% of the screen size. Motorised Auto Focus removes the need for manual focus adjustments, while Ambient Visual Enhancer automatically adapts the image to the room’s lighting.

Beyond golf simulation, the AK900ST and AK800ST are designed to support other entertainment applications, including movies, gaming and sports. Scene Memory allows users to switch between activities with image settings optimised for each scenario.

Both models also feature dual-source picture-in-picture (PiP), allowing users to watch content such as YouTube golf tutorials alongside a golf simulation.
