Somfy has expanded its connected shading range with the launch of the Somfy Connect Universal Automation Interface (UAI) Plus, an interface designed to simplify the commissioning and integration of Somfy Digital Network (SDN) motors with smart home automation systems.

The UAI+ provides direct commissioning and IP integration of SDN motors and is compatible with automation platforms including Control4, Crestron and Savant.

A single UAI+ unit can commission and manage up to 250 SDN motors over IP, either individually or as part of groups. This allows integrators to manage multiple connected shades from a single interface across residential and larger automation projects.

“The Somfy Connect UAI+ makes integration simple. Integrators can now enjoy a streamlined commissioning experience and improved customisation of Somfy-powered equipment,” Somfy Oceania projects and services manager Joel Gray says.

The interface is designed to reduce the additional hardware and software previously required to connect SDN systems with third-party control platforms. Somfy says the UAI+ eliminates the need for software drivers, pinouts, converters and protocol translators.

An embedded configuration and commissioning wizard guides the setup process and allows the UAI+ to connect the SDN system with the third-party automation platform. Integrators can also use drag-and-drop functionality to group motors and connected devices.

The UAI+ includes automatic firmware updates and can generate reports that can be printed or emailed, providing documentation of the configured system.
