Biamp audio system installed at 30 Pirie Street office tower
Biamp has delivered a background music system for Adelaide’s 30 Pirie Street office tower, providing automated, zoned audio designed to enhance the building’s atmosphere while minimising operational complexity.
Installed by Professional Technology Partners (PTP), the system covers four zones, including the main foyer, atrium, rear entrance and bike storage area. The installation combines Biamp Voltera D-series amplifiers, Tesira DSP, Desono pendant and in-ceiling speakers, an Apprimo touch panel and the Biamp Workplace automation platform.

“The challenge was balancing first impressions with conversation clarity. In the foyer and atrium, we needed music that felt welcoming but didn’t dominate; in the bike storage, we had to mask mechanical noise while keeping speech intelligible and everywhere, the speakers had to blend seamlessly with the premium architecture,” PTP general manager Chad Penley says.
Biamp Workplace automatically manages music schedules and volume levels throughout the day, reducing the need for manual intervention. Concierge staff can adjust audio using a simple touch panel interface with three zone-specific volume controls, which reset to default settings each morning.
“Biamp Workplace was the game-changer. It handles everything automatically; music starts and stops on schedule, volumes adjust throughout the day and the system resets itself every morning,” Chad says.
The networked system provides Quintessential, owner of 30 Pirie Street, with a scalable audio platform that can be expanded or adapted as tenant requirements change.
