CEDIA attends US Capitol to push for world change
CEDIA attended the second annual Smart Home Day on Capital Hill alongside board directors, manufacturing chief executives and industry leaders around the world. CEDIA advocated for key policies impacting the smart home industry while emphasising the work of technology integrators.
CEDIA representatives took part in numerous bipartisan meetings with members of Congress and their staff to address crucial legislative issues. They included a return of exclusions on tariffs, advancements in technology innovation and support for middle-class jobs.

Any trade policy actions should have exclusion process to support the US economy, create an environment that maintains jobs in technical trades and maintain low prices for essential products and services.
Initiatives of the ‘CHIPS and Science Act’ includes bringing the semiconductor supply chains back to the US. This will provide more technology investment, create new jobs, support American innovation, ensure supply chain resiliency and protect national security.
The ‘Freedom to Invest in Tomorrow’s Workforce Act’ will expand to use 529 savings accounts to cover workforce training and credentialing programs that directly benefit the individual workers and the smart home technology industry.
“This was our second Smart Home Day on Capitol Hill, and the impact of rallying together in person cannot be overstated,” CEDIA global president and chief executive Daryl Friedman says.
“With changes in government and evolving policy landscapes, it’s more important than ever that we proactively engage with lawmakers to shape the future of our industry.”
Five CEDIA advocacy groups were involved in discussions with numerous lawmakers from around the US. The legislators accepted CEDIA’s feedback from their prior support for the ‘CHIPS and Science Act’ and co-sponsorship of the ‘Freedom to Invest in Tomorrow’s Workforce Act’.
