Alfatron Electronics has introduced the AFL USB3 EXT 3.0 Extender. It can transmit over CAT6/6A/7 cabling system up to 80m, making it suitable for USB peripheral devices such as microphones, cameras, video bars, digital signal processors (DSPs) and other USB devices.

There are two modules, the receiver (RX) and the transmitter (TX). Both have four ports for USB 3.0 device connections while the extender is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 and USB 1.1.

It also supports hot plugging so cables can be connected and disconnected without issue. The ALF USB3 EXT also supports power over cable (PoC) and only the receiver is required to be connected to an electrical outlet.

“The ALF-USB3-EXT is the ideal solution for any environment where users require convenient access to a variety of USB devices that otherwise might not have the necessary cable length,” Alfatron Electronics technical director Spencer Thomas says.

“If for example, a person needs their keyboard and mouse on-stage for a presentation, the ALF-USB3-EXT can then easily reach the computer elsewhere in the room or be connected to our UC1 wireless conferencing system.”
