Seamlessly marrying an AV solution into a high-end, architecturally designed home, without taking from the décor or interior styling, was the challenge for Electronic Living in the award-winning ‘Ashgrove’ project.

Electronic Living installed top-of-the-line devices and systems with a Control4 system that ensures ease-of-use.

Audio systems are built into easy room groupings while seven video sources (one of which is the family’s CCTV system) can be sent to the media room, living room, gym, rumpus room, family room and kitchen.

There are six wireless access points throughout the three-storey home – lighting and lighting control, HVAC, access control, an intercom system, alarms, and pool and spa control are all part of this complex system.

Scenes include ‘Holiday Mode’ which learns the client’s lighting habits and mimics them when the family is away to give the impression that the residence is occupied.

The systems integrator adds: “A high-end cinema wasn’t a high priority for the client, in fact it was originally going to just be another TV room. After seeing and experiencing our 130-inch projector screen and setup in our showroom, they wanted the big screen effect. Cinema seating was also chosen after the client experienced our showroom and we were able to create a configuration that suited the raised section in the flooring.”

CEDIA’s judges said the project “checks all the boxes”, adding that it was “stylish and sympathetically designed.”
