Google Home unveils major update

Google Home unveils major updateGoogle has unveiled a major update to Google Assistant following an announcement that Google Home is heading to the UK. Google Home is not yet available in Australia.

As part of this update Google Home has introduced new home automation integrations to work with the Google Assistant, including Best Buy, Insignia, LIFX, TP-Link and Wink. These integrations are in addition to the ones already available.

This means users will now be able to say “ok Google” and:

  • Turn on a fan with the Best Buy Insignia WiFi Smart Plug
  • Change light colour with LIFX
  • Dim lights with TP-Link
  • Turn up heat with Wink

Users connect their smart home devices to Google Assistant on Google Home through the Google Home app.

The new integrations will be available in the UK as well as the US.
