Gefen helps St George Leagues Club Casino hit the jackpot with full HD 1080p video distributionGefen’s 1080p Video over IP solutions have been used to seamlessly distribute video graphics to 100 displays in St. George Leagues Club Casino in Sydney.

The casino had noticed the video graphics on its displays looked ‘messy’ and called local technology integration firm WED Group to help rectify the issue. WED Group services and integration manager Matthew Joyce suggested the club completely redesign their content distribution system to use Gefen’s 1080p Video over IP solutions.

“Over the past few years, the club’s video distribution system became increasingly unreliable, which is a significant problem in a venue of such a high calibre that is expected to deliver premiere entertainment,” said Matthew.

Previously, St. George Leagues Club Casino’s system used VGA extenders that were ‘piggy backed’ off each other, which proved to be extremely sensitive and since they weren’t labelled it made it difficult to diagnose problems. The newly built system uses a sophisticated network of Gefen 1080p products paired with a Cisco SG500 48 port switch and ASUS Wireless Router to eliminate these issues.

“Gefen equipment completely eliminates reliability issues, and offers a seamless new way to distribute content across multiple displays. With this new video distribution system, the club can now easily distribute animated gaming graphics – such as current jackpot levels – for customers to see across the entire casino floor. Plus, if any rare issues are to arise, troubleshooting for the technical team is as easy as can be,” said Matthew.

Graphic content in the casino is distributed smoothly thanks to four Gefen VGA KVM Video Over IP Senders, 12 Gefen VGA KVM Video Over IP Receivers, six Gefen HDMI KVM Video Over IP Receivers, four Gefen 1 by 8 HDMI splitters, and two Gefen 1 by 4 HDMI Splitters.

“We essentially took multiple gaming graphic PCs and connected them to Gefen KVM senders. Once they were connected to the Cisco switch and programmed with their output channel, they could be left alone to keep the transmission extremely neat. The result is a simple and seamless video distribution system,” said Matthew.

St George Leagues Club Casino has plans to expand the system to add an additional 100 screens and incorporate digital advertising to boost revenue for the casino.

“Gefen offers ideal solutions for casino applications. These solutions make configuration & implementation easy. We look forward to expanding the system to include the entire casino floor,” said Matthew.
