PXLDRIVECanadian innovator Pixelgen Design Inc has used the 2016 CEDIA Expo to unveil three interconnect solutions that are capable of delivering full-bandwidth 18Gbps up to 30m:

  • PXLDRIVE (for 10m and 15m lengths),
  • Passive Pixelgen cables (in lengths of up to 5m); and
  • Pixelgen Fibre (in 20m and 30m lengths).

PXLDRIVE

PXLDRIVE is an active, long-reach THX-Certified 4K interconnect solution, capable of boosting full-bandwidth 4K reach capabilities up to 15m.

It is a single small signal processing device that is installed between pre-existing or new long-length passive HDMI cable and the display.

“As 4K Ultra HD technology matures and content creators begin supporting the format in its full potential we observe that in long-reach applications inferior interconnects can impede the entertainment experience,” says THX director of integrated product marketing Matt Severaid.

“PXLDRIVE and the Max 4K Interconnect System are the first and only THX Certified 10m-plus solutions that guarantee the performance potential of all full-bandwidth 4K Ultra HD, HDR, HFR, WCG content formats. THX Certification also ensures that all HDMI functionality including CEC 2.0, HEC and ARC are supported by the cables.”

This retrofittable standalone solution is perfect for use with HDMI 4K devices in dedicated cinema rooms where pre-existing long-reach cables are failing to meet the bandwidth requirements.

Pixelgen also offers PXLDRIVE in a complete end-to-end long-reach cable bundle solution – the ‘Max 4K Interconnect System’ – available in 10m and 15m lengths.

Pixelgen cables

Available in 0.3m, 0.5m, 1m, 2m, 3m, and 5m lengths, Pixelgen cables are also THX-Certified.

Alternatively, Pixelgen Fibre is hybrid optical fibre/copper interconnect that ensures full HDMI capability over lengths of 20m or 30m.

Capable of reviving uncompressed HDMI signals up to the maximum UHD bit rate, Pixelgen products are robust 18Gbps extenders.

PXLDRIVE and Pixelgen cables will begin shipping in October. Pixelgen Fibre will ship from 1 December 2016.
