“We are delighted to be working with THX to deliver this high quality training programme at ISE,” says CEDIA operations director in Region 1 (UK and Europe, Russia and the CIS, Middle East, Africa, India and Pakistan) Matt Nimmons.

“As the biggest event in Europe for custom installation professionals, ISE is the ideal venue for THX training. This training will give delegates, visiting Amsterdam from far and wide the opportunity to extend their stay and combine a visit to ISE with the chance to improve and significantly extend their skill sets.”

Taking place at the Holiday Inn Amsterdam and led by THX expert, Greg Loewen, the training programme will begin on the final day of ISE and continue on the Friday and Saturday after the event. This will give maximum value for delegates who wish to both see the show and attend the THX training to emerge with a valuable, industry recognised qualification, “THX Certified Video Professional”.

Participants in this programme will learn how to calibrate and set up all types of video displays, including plasma displays, LCD flat panels, UHD (4K) LED, curved OLED, and front projectors including anamorphic lens systems.

The first day of the programme comprises Level 1 Training. Level 1 is a stand-alone class where students start by learning the basics of setup and calibration. Candidates who successfully complete the coursework and score at least 85 percent on the THX exam will achieve the title of “THX Certified Professional.” They will also be listed on the THX directory of Certified Professionals, among other marketing support materials.

Level 2 training takes place on days 2 and 3. Level 2 represents an advanced class which builds upon the introductory contents of the Level 1 THX Video Training. Only students with a prior record of attending Level 1 training may attend the Level 2 part of the programme.

In Level 2, the teaching is 60% hands on training with various display technologies. It deals with the advanced concepts of gamma, colour management, 3D, ultra HD, creating look up tables, integration of video processors, and various other advanced topics. Successful completion of the Level 2 portion of the program will earn the attendee the coveted status of “THX Certified Video Professional” and the ability to offer their clients “THX Certified Video Calibrations”.

THX Video Calibration training is open to all industry professionals and enthusiasts who want to learn the art of video calibration and become THX certified calibration experts. Places on the THX Hands On Video Training Session at ISE is limited to 20 delegates. Pricing will be as follows:

• Level 1 only: CEDIA Members / EURO 525 – Non CEDIA members / EURO 595
• Level 2 only (must have prior attendance of Level 1): CEDIA Members / EURO 1300 – Non CEDIA members / EURO 1425
• Level 1 and 2 combined: CEDIA Members / EURO 1749 – Non CEDIA members / EURO 1875

Questions about enrolling, including waiving of the Level 1 requirement, may be sent to [email protected].
