The new facility has been designed to specifically handle the expansion of Sony Australia’s professional solutions and systems operation throughout the Asia Pacific region.

“Sony believes this new facility will offer our broadcast and business partners a better service and a more professional environment,” said Mr Akio Fujii, Sony’s General Manager, Custom Solutions and Systems Division.

In addition to housing the fit-out and development of Outside Broadcast (OB) vans and broadcast studios, the new facility will also assist Sony’s expansion into new markets such as healthcare and medical monitoring systems.

“The new facility is a leap forward in Sony’s system capabilities. In addition to our core fabrication, design and installation business – and with the support of our facility partners – we are now able to offer vehicle design and build,” said Brett Kilby, Group Manager, Solutions Engineering. “The new facility will expand Sony’s ability to offer our customers a turnkey system in a cost-effective environment; without compromising on quality.”

With the support of its onsite partners, the new Sony facility will include the following services:

Sony’s new professional solutions facility is nearing completion and will open for business from October 2012
• Vehicle manufacture and fit-out including trailer and non-trailer solutions to suit both small and large builds;
• Metal and wood work fabrication and assembly;
• Computer aided development, design and manufacture (using Vidcad, CNC / XYZ and laser machining); and
• System design integration and installation workshops.

Sony’s solution engineering support will continue from Sony Australia’s Head Office in North Ryde, Sydney for the following areas:
• Solution overviews, proposals and scope of works;
• Support from specialist engineers;
• Test and support systems and equipment; and
• Product and technology training,

Brett Kilby has relocated to the new Newcastle facility where he will continue to oversee the Solutions Division including the new facility and projects.

“We’re open for business and under the direction of Brett, we believe this facility will offer our business partners the best service available in Australia,” stated Mr Fujii.
