Both of Epson’s new 3D ranges offer features and performance at varying price levels to accommodate virtually all home cinema projection preferences.

“A major hurdle in all 3D systems is maintaining image brightness and thus picture quality. Epson has addressed this by using a 480Hz Active Shutter system in its 3D projectors rather than the slower 240Hz system,” says Epson Australia business manager visual imaging Bruce Bealby.

Epson’s faster 480Hz shutter system minimises the blackout time (cross talk) of 3D glasses. The less time the lenses are closed, the more light can come through resulting in a brighter image.

“Epson may not have delivered the first 3D projector but we have now delivered home theatre projectors for two significant market segments – family home viewers and custom installers.

“As they also provide exceptional 2D quality images, include split screen viewing for watching more than one source such as games playing at the same time, and the EH-TW8000 and EH-TW9000W do 2D to 3D conversion, these projectors are an outstanding choice for any home,” Bruce says.

The family home viewing range includes the EH-TW5900, EH-TW6000, and the EH-TW6000W with WirelessHD connectivity enabling the wireless transfer of digital signals from Blu-ray players, game consoles or set top boxes without compression or deterioration, giving high quality images every time.

This range has light output up to 2200 lumens and contrast ratios up to 40,000:1. All three projectors have two 10W speakers to deliver immediate sound from all sources, horizontal and vertical keystone correction up to 30 degrees with a horizontal slide keystone correction allowing the projector to be offset from centre so players can stand in front of the screen when playing console games, two HDMI ports, and the EH-TW6000 and EH-TW6000W come with two pairs of 3D glasses.

The custom install range includes the EH-TW8000 and EH-TW9000W both with light output of 2400 lumens and contrast ratio of 200,000:1.

Epson has introduced a newly developed LCD panel for its 3LCD light engine in both ranges, the D9 C2 Fine panel with an aperture ratio of 65%, and a higher power 230W version of Epson’s patented E-TORL lamp.

The result is bright colour and white light output in 2D and 3D modes and a dynamic contrast ratio of 200,000:1 (TW8000 and TW9000W) for incredible black levels with a clear, clean picture and viewing on larger screens and in a range of ambient light conditions.

There are two main ways WirelessHD works with either the TW6000W or TW9000W projector:

Connect the WirelessHD transmitter that comes with the Epson projector to the source device (eg. Blu-ray player) via an HDMI cable. The transmitter will wirelessly stream 1080p content directly to the Epson projector.

The TW6000W and TW9000W can speak directly with any other device that is WirelessHD certified.
